Abrasion Resistant Finish

A tough, semi-gloss satin finish engineered to withstand heavy foot traffic and abrasion. Enriched with UV-stable pigments, it maintains rich color depth and resists fading, making it equally effective for internal floors and external patios.

Hydrophobic Vapor Valve

The advanced acrylic lattice acts as a "one-way valve." It blocks rain and surface oils from penetrating downwards but allows trapped ground moisture to escape as vapor—preventing the bubbling and blistering common with standard floor paints.

Active Silane Adhesion

Unlike standard paints that sit on the surface, this formula uses silane promoters to chemically cross-link with the mineral substrate. This creates a permanent, rooted bond that resists flaking and peeling, even under duress.

Optimized Curing Profile

Engineered for efficient application cycles. The coating becomes touch-dry in just 2–4 hours (temperature dependent), preventing debris pickup and allowing for a reliable, streamlined application process on large surface areas.

Description

EverFlor Prime DP is a clear, two-pack, solvent-free epoxy floor primer formulated for the stabilisation of porous and absorbent concrete. It is the preparation stage in an EverFlor floor build-up — the coat that turns an open slab into a sound, sealed substrate ready to receive a finish.

Porous concrete is the most common cause of a disappointing floor coating. Prime DP is a 100% solids formulation, so everything you apply stays in and on the floor and nothing flashes off as solvent. It penetrates the surface and cures within it, consolidating the top layer of the concrete instead of bridging over it.

Supplied clear in a 5kg two-pack unit. Mix the two components by weight, apply one coat over normal porous concrete, then overcoat with your chosen EverFlor floor finish once the priming coat has hardened. As a reactive epoxy it has a defined working window once the activator goes in, so set the area out and mix only when you are ready to apply.

Good to know

The substrate must be sound, clean and dry before priming. Apply between 10°C and 25°C, and store the unit in a cool, dry area. Do not allow the product to freeze. Because Prime DP is mixed by weight at 100:60 (A:B), do not split the unit into smaller quantities, as an inaccurate ratio can cause the product to fail to cure. Clean tools with warm soapy water immediately after use, before the epoxy begins to harden.

Application

SURFACE PREPARATION

Mechanically prepare the concrete before you prime. Grinding or abrading removes laitance, curing residues and any failing coating, and opens the surface so the epoxy can penetrate. Remove loose and flaking material back to sound substrate. Sweep and then vacuum the whole area — dust left on the slab will sit between the primer and the concrete and cost you adhesion.

MIXING

Mix the full 5kg unit as supplied. Do not split the pack or decant part quantities, as the ratio between the two parts must be maintained for a full cure. Use a mixing paddle on a slow-speed drill and keep the paddle below the surface of the material to avoid whipping air into it. Mix to a uniform consistency, then pour the material into a scuttle or roller tray and begin work straight away. The pot life is up to 45 minutes at 20°C from the moment the two parts are combined.

APPLICATION

Apply one coat by roller, cutting in at edges and around detail with a brush. The product is ready to use — do not thin it. Spread at 3-4m² per kg, allowing for more material where the concrete is markedly absorbent. Feed porous patches until they are evenly wetted out, then move on; the primer is not intended to be built up as a thick film.

DRYING AND OVERCOATING

Prime DP is touch dry in 6 hours and ready to receive the next coat after 8 hours. Overcoat within 48 hours at 20°C. Store unopened units in dry conditions; shelf life is 12 months.

Why does porous concrete need priming before a floor coating?
An absorbent slab draws the binder out of the first coat as it is applied. That leaves dry patches, uneven gloss and a bond that never fully develops. Prime DP penetrates and seals the surface first, so the finish coat retains its binder and adheres properly.
How many coats of Prime DP do I need?
Apply one coat over normal porous concrete. Coverage is 3-4m² per kg, so a 5KG unit primes in the region of 15-20m² depending on how absorbent the slab is.
Does Prime DP need thinning?
No. Prime DP is supplied ready to use straight from the tin and requires no thinner. It is a 100% solids, solvent-free formulation.
How long do I have to work once the product is mixed?
Pot life is up to 45 minutes at 20°C from the moment you add the activator. Plan the area, set your tools out and mix only when you are ready to apply. On larger floors, break the job into sections you can complete inside that window.
When can I apply the finish coat?
Prime DP is touch dry in six hours and ready to overcoat after eight hours. That timing lets a prime-and-coat sequence run through the same day or into the next.
