It breaks down oil, grease and general soiling so they can be scrubbed loose and rinsed away, leaving a clean, sound floor for the primer or paint that follows. Concrete floors collect oil and grease long before anyone decides to paint them. That contamination sits in the open pores of the slab, and a coating laid over it bonds to the oil rather than to the floor, then peels under traffic. This concentrate is brushed into the surface diluted with water, where it breaks the deposits down so they can be scrubbed loose and rinsed off. It is clear, so nothing is left behind, and its VOC content is below 30 g/l, so it can be used inside without solvent odour. Ordinary site kit — broom, scrubber, hose — is all it takes.

Oil Release Chemistry

A film applied over oil or grease bonds to the contamination, not the concrete, and releases under traffic. Worked into the surface with a stiff broom, the degreaser breaks the deposits down so they lift out of the floor instead of being spread across it. Rinse the treated area with clean water to carry the loosened soiling away.

Two Rate Dilution

The product is supplied as a concentrate, so one container makes up a large volume of wash solution. Mix 50:1 with water for general cleaning and 20:1 with water for heavy cleaning. At 20:1 one litre of concentrate covers 40m², so make up only as much as you can work across the section in hand.

Water Carried Formulation

The degreaser is water based and carries less than 30 g/l VOC, so it is used on interior and exterior floors alike. Apply and store between 5°C and 30°C. Do not use it in freezing conditions.

Coating Ready Substrate

One pass leaves a clean, sound floor with no colour left behind, because the liquid is clear. Check the surface after rinsing and repeat where staining or a greasy feel remains. Let the floor dry before coating, and do not use the degreaser on new or wet concrete under 21 days old or holding 6% or more residual moisture.

Description

EverFlor Degreaser is a clear, water-based cleaner concentrate for floor preparation. It lifts oil, grease and general soiling out of a hard floor before a coating is applied. It also works as a cleaner on floors that have picked up contamination in service.

Most floor coating failures start with preparation. A film applied over oil or grease bonds to the contamination, not to the substrate, and releases under traffic. Brushing the diluted degreaser into the surface breaks the deposits down so they can be scrubbed loose and rinsed off with clean water. What is left is a clean floor to coat onto.

Use it as the first stage of an EverFlor floor coating specification, ahead of any EverFlor primer or floor paint. It suits interior and exterior hard floors and is supplied in 5 litre containers.

Application

DILUTION

The degreaser is supplied as a concentrate and is diluted with water before use. Mix 50:1 with water for general cleaning. Mix 20:1 with water for heavy cleaning. At 20:1 one litre of concentrate treats around 40m². Make up only as much as you can use across the section in hand.

SURFACE PREPARATION AND APPLICATION

Sweep the floor and remove loose debris. Apply the diluted solution and brush it in with a stiff broom so it works into the surface. Use a brush or a mechanical scrubber to loosen heavier oil and grease deposits. Work in manageable sections rather than flooding the whole floor at once.

RINSING AND DRYING

Rinse the treated area with clean water. Check the surface once rinsed and repeat the process where staining or a greasy feel remains. Allow the floor to dry before coating — moisture left in the substrate will affect the primer or paint that follows.

CONDITIONS AND DISPOSAL

How much do I dilute it, and how far does it go?
Mix 50:1 with water for general cleaning and 20:1 with water for heavy cleaning. At the 20:1 rate, one litre of concentrate makes up enough solution to treat around 40m². Only make up what you can use across the section you are working on, and use the heavier rate where oil and grease deposits are ingrained.
Can I use it on a newly laid concrete floor?
No. Do not apply it to new or wet concrete — that means slabs under 21 days old, or any slab holding residual moisture at 6% or higher. Let the concrete cure and dry to below that moisture level first, then degrease, rinse and allow the floor to dry before coating.
Do I need to rinse it off before painting?
Yes. Brush the diluted solution into the floor with a stiff broom, then rinse the treated area with clean water so the released oil and grease are carried away rather than left on the surface. Check the floor once rinsed and repeat where staining or a greasy feel remains, then allow it to dry fully before applying a primer or coating.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, it is suitable for interior and exterior hard floors. Apply between 5°C and 30°C and do not use it in freezing conditions. Outside, take account of where the rinse water will run — washings containing oil and grease must not enter surface water drains and should be collected and disposed of in line with local requirements.
Does it need a primer, or any other product with it?
No primer is required for the degreaser itself; it is a single-component cleaner, diluted with water and applied direct. It is the first stage of floor preparation, used ahead of EverFlor primers and floor coatings. Once the floor is degreased, rinsed and dry, apply the primer or coating specified for the system you are building.
